Here’s an idea inspired by your “happy birthday” calls:
Call up various stores and say you’re calling from a company that does “short-form birthday parties”, i.e. birthday parties that last between 10mins to an hour, because who has the time or money in this economy to have a full-blown birthday party. Anyway, claim you’ve been hired by the relatives of one of the employees or something and so you’ll be throwing a party with X guests inside their store for Y amount of time. You figure out the specifics.
I guess it could be like those high profile celebrity calls or mall santa calls in terms of the genre, but a different take on the idea.
